What is CRITER?
CRITER started as a Google Group at Boise State University in an effort to connect people in Idaho working on generative AI’s impacts on higher education in the state. That Group still exists, but for folks not at Boise State, this might be an easier way to share.
1. What does CRITER stand for?
CRITER stands for Coalition for Responsible Innovation in Technology, Education, and Research. But it's mostly focused on generative AI for now.
2. Who are you, Jen?
I’m Jen Schneider, Associate Dean of the College of Innovation and Design at Boise State University. I’m also the launch Director for the School for the Digital Future, an initiative that aims to prepare non-STEM students for careers in digital fields, and I manage the Digital Innovation and Design degree and our campus’s AI for All Certificate. As a researcher, I work a lot on the public communication of scientific and technical controversies.
3. What can I expect here?
Links to news stories about generative AI that are often related to higher ed (though not always). I try to keep it fresh and varied. I also post news stories that folks in the higher ed community in Idaho send me, so you’ll occasionally see a “hat-tip” (h/t) to them. The round-ups are published Wednesdays. Please invite folks you think would enjoy!
